July 7th Fishing Report: Ontelaunee Park & Leaser Lake

Today, July 7th, I finally had the chance to get out and do some fishing, so I headed to Ontelaunee Park in New Tripoli. When I arrived, the main lake area—especially down by the cement wall—was pretty busy. Despite the crowd, I decided to stick around and test my luck with the Rebel Cata Crawler Wooly Bear, and I’m glad I did. I managed to land six largemouth bass, all measuring between 12–13 inches and weighing from about 10 ounces to just over a pound. Nothing huge or close to a personal best, but it was a solid start to my vacation fishing.

I also explored the creek near the dog park, though I didn’t have any luck there. However, I did see a bunch of kids and their parents pulling in bluegills and sunfish left and right using worms and crickets—and even managed to snag a turtle!

Later, I drove over to Leaser Lake, the only lake in Lehigh County, and tried all three locations around it. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much action there either. I did get one massive blow-up on a Googan frog, but couldn’t land the fish. Still, just seeing that kind of strike made the trip worthwhile.

The weather was around 87°F with mostly cloudy skies—a great day to be outdoors. Hoping to get back out again on Tuesday or Wednesday, weather permitting.
